A good friend of the Passage of the Pyrenees

In the early hours of Sunday, the 24th of October, María Pilar Torra left us to go to the place that was always reserved, where there will be no weariness, nor crying, nor pain and where joy and peace will be for ever.

With her husband, Jordi Canet, she was among the first members of the “Friends of the Route from Pallerols de Rialb to Andorra Association”, and participated actively in many of the activities promoted by this association. Although she was not a great walker, she put in a lot of effort and went with her husband to the walks on the second Saturdays of every month. She came to many of the walks, and her presence conveyed an atmosphere of peace, kindness and service. She worked very positively for the organization at the Conferences of the Way to Freedom through the Pyrenees and other aspects related to the history of the trails of escape, as she was a student of these expeditions. She also often came to meetings with other historians covering these themes. We always found María Pilar to be an important aid moving forward with our project, the Passage of the Pyrenees. Now from heaven, she will help us even more!

Thanks, María Pilar, for your proof of dedication and service to others and for the encouragement and assistance we always received from you.
On Tuesday the 26th, the funeral was held at the church of Cristo Rey of Manresa. Many people were in attendance as a token of gratitude for her.

This coming 4th of November there will be a Mass for her at 7pm at the church of Montalegre in Barcelona and shortly, we’ll celebrate a Mass for her in Pallerols, which will be announced at the proper time.
