Presentation of the Conference by Josep Masabeu

On Saturday 9 November we celebrated in Pallerols de Rialb the 10th Conference of freedom paths through the Pyrenees, with the theme: “1,000 years of the Romanesque temple of Sant Esteve de Pallerols de Rialb”.

Indeed, we will celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of the consecration of the Pallerols temple by Saint Ermengol, bishop of Urgell.

The celebration consisted of the exhibition of 4 presentations on 4 topics related to the territory, history, Romanesque art, Saint Ermengol and the Romanesque church of Pallerols.

The speakers who took part in the Conference -all of them university doctors and experts of recognized prestige in their specialty -presented their work with the help of slides that made the presentations more understandable and enjoyable, all of them very well-worked and of a high academic level.

We will publish a paper publication of the entire treatise at the 10th Conference, which will surely make it easier to follow in depth the visits made to Pallerols.

After the presentations, we had a lunch of canapés, sausages and desserts, prepared for us by Mercè Betriu, Isa Navarro and Conxa Blasco, from Lleida.

At around 5 in the afternoon we will finish the X Conference with the celebration of the Eucharist for all those who wish it.

All in all a high-level cultural conference, around the Catalan Romanesque of the Baronia de Rialb and Alt Urgell, and with the intention of repeating it more often.
