What is the Northern Rose?

For 12 years, at the end of November, we have been organizing a Night Walk called “Rose of the North”, in memory of the people persecuted by the Pyrenees mountains when they were looking for freedom during the Spanish civil war of 1936-39 and the second war World Cup 1942-45.

Those who participate in the “Rose of the North” identify with all the fugitives and those persecuted by totalitarian ideologies around the world and that is why we walk at night, without provisions and in adverse weather conditions, since it is done in gates of winter, coinciding with the last stage of an expedition in which, among others, Saint Josemaría Escrivà de Balaguer went, who entered Andorra on the night of December 1 to 2, 1937.

When is it done?

This year we do it on the night of November 30 to December 1.

Toured

The “Rosa del Nord” runs from the Bellestar Sports Center to the Sant Julià de Lòria Sports Center (Andorra) and was a common route for fugitives who followed the Segre route to enter Andorra.

It is a stretch of 22 km and 1,600 m of accumulated positive difference.

The Walk will start at 15:00 at the Sports Center of Bellestar.

The fastest ones will take about 4-5 hours and the slowest ones about 7-8 hours.

Who organizes?

The organization will be in charge of Toni Cucurull, of the Associació d’Amics del Camí de Pallerols de Rialb a Andorra.

There will be volunteers located along the route to help walkers with difficulties.

The price of the registrations is €15 per person, which will be paid at the exit. This money will be used for the piscolabis that we will do on arrival and for general costs of marking and maintaining the Path.
