A highly recommended family plan

On Sunday, March 17, a group of families from Turó School in Tarragona visited Pallerols de Rialb to relive the passage of St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer through this area from November 20 to 27, 1937, where he was hidden because of religious persecution during the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939.

On the night of November 27, the group in which St. Josemaría was going left the forests of Pallerols to go to Andorra, where they arrived on December 2.

Octavio Rico, a member of the “Associació d’Amics del Camí de Pallerols de Rialb a Andorra,” explained to the group from Tarragona what happened during those complicated days of 1937. After the explanations, the priest Jaume Poi celebrated the Eucharist in the church of Pallerols.

After this, the group moved to the cabin of San Rafael, half an hour’s walk from the church to the north. There more explanations and family lunch of what they had brought from home.

Finally, they returned to Pallerols by another route, passing by the raft where the fugitives bathed in those days.

Around five o’clock in the afternoon they return home, after having relived interesting historical moments and enjoying the contact with nature in the forests of Rialb.

A very recommendable family outing, in which you can fill yourself with the peace of Pallerols.
