“Rosa del Nord” Night Race and Walk, 29.11.2025

From the Bellestar Agricultural School to the Sant Julià de Lòria Sports Center

For 12 years, at the end of November, we have been organizing a Night Race and Walk called “Rosa del Nord”, in memory of the people persecuted by the Pyrenees mountains seeking freedom during the Spanish Civil War of 1936-39 and the Second World War of 1942-45.

The “Rosa del Nord” is a 22 km route and 1,600 m of positive elevation gain and was a common route for fugitives who followed the Segre route to enter Andorra. The Race is done in pairs (male, female and mixed), and the Walk is individual.

This year we did it on the night of November 29th to 30th, with a total of 138 participants: 42 in the Walk and 96 in the Race; 81 were men and 57 women.

To control the passage of the participants, and to help them in case of need, there were 15 volunteers distributed along 7 points of the route.

The origin of the participants was: 61% from Catalonia, 31% from Andorra, 3% from France, 3% from Madrid and Valencia, and 2% between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Doing this route means identifying with all the people persecuted by totalitarian ideologies around the world, which do not tolerate that there may be other people with ideologies, races, religion, language or culture different from their own. That is why we walk at night, without refreshments and in adverse weather conditions. It takes place at the beginning of winter, coinciding with the last stage of an expedition that entered Andorra through Mas d’Alins on the night of December 1 to 2, 1937.

The organization was carried out by the Association of Friends of the Pallerols Path from Rialb to Andorra and the Andorran company VSL.
