El Camino de Andorra se va consolidando internacionalmente <\/p>\n

Adjuntamos una Cro\u0301nica de la Caminata, hecha por Brian Madden, uno de los expedicionarios. La transcribimos directamente en ingle\u0301s, tal como nos la ha enviado, y a continuacio\u0301n la traducimos al castellano. <\/span><\/p>\n

Three came from Ireland; all from Dublin. Niall works in a bank, Garry as an auditor in the Civil Service, and I am an engineer, recently retired. Irish hikers like to travel abroad for walking holidays. Spain, France, Poland are common; more recently Slovakia, Slovenia and Rumania. The Camino de Santiago is paticularly popular.<\/p>\n

We heard about the Camino de Andorra from Rafa, a Spaniard working in Dublin. He met Jordi Piferrer in 2004. Jordi told him about the route, and presented him with his guide book ‘Camino de Andorra’. He wrote a dedication, hoping that ‘people from Ireland might some day walk the Andorra Trail’. Five years later, it came to be.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Wed 23 Sep. We arrived in Barcelona in the morning, and rented a car. We traveled to Oliana, and then to Peramola and Pallerols. We had time in the afternoon to hike up to the Cabin of St Raphael, and return by the ‘balsa’. <\/p>\n

Our plan was that we would drive to the start of each stage, and be collected at the end. This meant that the start and finish of each day had to be on a road. We stayed each night in Coll de Nargo, at Hotel del Llac. Josep and Anna Finestres, and their son Miguel, looked us after very well. We were also very fortunate that Jordi Piferrer was doing some work in Andorra, and was able to spend some time in the area on his way back. His advice on routes was invaluable, and he helped us out frequently with lifts. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Thurs 24 Sep. We started from Torrent, and were quickly at Roca del Corb. This astounding rock formation took our breath away. Shortly after, we made an error, and ended up at the Juncas Farm. With the help of the map, we got back on course and made it to Ribalera. After crossing Aubens, we made another error, and lost our way again. This time, with the help of St Josemaria no doubt, we met a local man driving a car in the forest. He was the only person we met that day, and he very kindly drove us down the long winding track directly to Coll de Nargo.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Fri 25 Sep. We started from Pont de Vallarques, with the plan of hiking to L’Oliva on the Rio de Cabo. Shortly before Fenollet, we met Jordi in a field, repainting some of the blue and yellow trail signs. He invited us to a glass of wine and a coffee in the house in Fenollet. Rosa, the lady of the house was very welcoming. Jordi also showed us the cowshed, still in active use, where the 1937 party overnighted. After this pleasant stop, we went over Santa Fe mountain, and met Jordi again near l’Oliva. This time, Niall helped him with the sign painting.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Sat 26 Sep. This was ‘Ares day’. Jordi gave us a lift to the place where we finished yesterday, and we started the long hot climb up to the deserted village of Ares. We all needed a good rest on the top before heading off to Cal Barida, following the blue and yellow markers. Passing Cal Barida we got lost for a while, but descended into the gorge of Torrent de Barida\u0300, and soon picked up the trail again. It was mostly downhill then until we reached the road close to Noves de Segre, where Jordi collected us.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Sun 27 Sep. We were getting a little tired now, and asked Jordi to suggest a shorter hike route to finish off. He suggested starting at Rio de Civis and hiking over the Cabra Morta to Argollel. This turned out to be a most pleasant hike. The weather was cooler, and the views were fantastic. We finished the hike at about 1.30pm, said goodbye to Jordi and headed for Andorra.<\/p>\n

Overall we were very happy with our first visit to the Camino de Andorra. We met lots of very helpful and interesting people, we had some good hard mountain hiking and enjoyed the incredible views. We got particular insight into the historical and geographical context of the famous Paso de los Pineneos of the party of St Josemaria in 1937. We hope to get back, with a larger group from Ireland next time.<\/p>\n

Desde Irlanda vinimos tres personas; todos de Dubli\u0301n. Niall trabaja en un banco, Garry es auditor del Servicio Civil y yo soy ingeniero, jubilado hace poco. A los excursionistas irlandeses les gusta viajar al extranjero para hacer caminatas mientras esta\u0301n de vacaciones. Espan\u0303a, Francia, Polonia son lugares usuales y, ma\u0301s recientemente, Eslovaquia, Eslovenia y Rumania. El Camino de Santiago en concreto es muy popular.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A trave\u0301s de Rafa, un espan\u0303ol que trabaja en Dubli\u0301n, habi\u0301amos oi\u0301do hablar del Camino de Andorra. Rafa encontro\u0301 a Jordi Piferrer en el an\u0303o 2004, y e\u0301ste le hablo\u0301 de esta ruta y le regalo\u0301 su libro-gui\u0301a \u201cCamino de Andorra\u201d, con una dedicatoria, esperando \u201cque algunos irlandeses podri\u0301an hacer algu\u0301n di\u0301a el Camino de Andorra\u201d. Cinco an\u0303os ma\u0301s tarde, se ha hecho realidad.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mie\u0301rcoles, 23 de septiembre.- Llegamos a Barcelona por la man\u0303ana y alquilamos un coche. Viajamos hasta Oliana y luego Peramola y Pallerols. Tuvimos tiempo por la tarde para caminar hasta la \u201cCaban\u0303a de San Rafael\u201d y volver por la \u201cBalsa\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nuestro plan era ir en coche hasta el inicio de cada tramo y ser recogidos al final del mismo. Esto significaba que al inicio y al final de cada di\u0301a hubiera una carretera. Pernoctamos cada di\u0301a en la Fonda del Llac, de Coll de Nargo\u0301. Josep, Ana y su hijo Miguel, nos trataron muy bien. Tambie\u0301n tuvimos mucha suerte porque Jordi, que estaba trabajando en Andorra, pudo, en el camino de regreso, pasar algu\u0301n tiempo en la zona. Sus consejos sobre los caminos apropiados fueron muy valiosos y, adema\u0301s, nos acompan\u0303o\u0301 en coche en algunas ocasiones.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jueves, 24 Septiembre. Empezamos a caminar desde la casa de Torrent, y ra\u0301pidamente llegamos a la Roca del Corb. Esta asombrosa formacio\u0301n rocosa nos sorprendio\u0301 mucho. Poco despue\u0301s cometimos un error y fuimos a parar a la casa de Junca\u0300s. Con la ayuda del mapa, recuperamos el camino correcto y llegamos a la Ribalera. En la bajada del Aubenc\u0327, cometimos otro error y volvimos a perder el camino. Esta vez, ayudados sin duda por san Josemari\u0301a, encontramos a un hombre de la zona, en medio del bosque, con un coche todo terreno. Fue la u\u0301nica persona que encontramos en todo aquel di\u0301a. Muy amablemente nos invito\u0301 a subir en su coche y asi\u0301 llegamos a trave\u0301s de una larga y tortuosa pista directamente a Coll de Nargo\u0301.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Viernes, 25 Septiembre. Empezamos a caminar desde el Puente de Valldarques, con el plan de llegar hasta la Oliva, en el Valle de Cabo\u0301. Poco antes de llegar a Fenollet encontramos a Jordi en los campos de Fenollet, repasando algunas sen\u0303ales del camino, con los colores azul y amarillo. Nos invito\u0301 a tomar un poco de vino y cafe\u0301 en la casa de Fenollet. Rosa, la sen\u0303ora de la casa, fue muy amable. Jordi nos mostro\u0301 la cuadra, que aun esta\u0301 en activo, en la que la expedicio\u0301n de 1937 paso\u0301 el di\u0301a 29 de noviembre. Despue\u0301s de este placentero descanso, nos dirigimos a la montan\u0303a de Santa Fe, que cruzamos, llegando cerca de la casa de la Oliva, en donde nos esperaba Jordi. En este u\u0301ltimo trayecto, Niall le ayudo\u0301 a repintar las sen\u0303ales.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sa\u0301bado, 26 Septiembre. Este fue el \u201cdi\u0301a de Ares\u201d. Jordi nos llevo\u0301 en coche al lugar en donde habi\u0301amos acabado el di\u0301a anterior, y empezamos la larga y calurosa subida al abandonado pueblo de Ares. Al llegar a lo alto del pueblo, necesitamos un buen descanso antes de continuar hacia Cal Barida\u0300, siguiendo las sen\u0303ales azules y amarillas. Pasado Cal Barida no pudimos ver las sen\u0303ales pero descendimos hacia el Torrente de Barida\u0300 y pronto encontramos de nuevo la ruta. Pra\u0301cticamente todo el rato fue una fuerte bajada por la montan\u0303a hasta llegar a la carretera en Noves de Segre, en donde Jordi nos recogio\u0301.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Domingo, 27 Septiembre. Esta\u0301bamos ya un poco cansados y pedimos a Jordi que para acabar nos sugiriera una ruta corta. Nos sugirio\u0301 empezar en el Ri\u0301o de Civi\u0301s subiendo al Barranco de la Cabra Morta hasta llegar a Argolell, lo cual resulto\u0301 <\/span>una caminata muy agradable. El tiempo era fresco y las vistas fanta\u0301sticas. Terminamos la excursio\u0301n cerca de las 13.30 horas, despedimos a Jordi y continuamos en coche hacia Andorra.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Como resumen, hemos de decir que estamos muy contentos con nuestra primera visita al Camino de Andorra. Hemos conocido a muchas personas amables e interesantes, hemos conseguido superar difi\u0301ciles y duras montan\u0303as y gozado de increi\u0301bles panora\u0301micas. Sobretodo hemos podido profundizar en el contexto histo\u0301rico y geogra\u0301fico del famoso Paso de los Pirineos de la expedicio\u0301n de san Josemari\u0301a en 1937. Esperamos volver de nuevo, pero la pro\u0301xima vez sera\u0301 con un grupo ma\u0301s numeroso de irlandeses. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
